I really want people to know how much you have helped me. When I first came to see you, I spent the first 3 sessions crying. I was so down, without realising it myself.  My son convinced me originally that I needed therapy. 

Lucy just sat and listened, only speaking when I stopped. When I finished each session, I thought about what we’d spoken about. I realise now that I felt lighter after each meeting and it actually came to me that I didn’t need Lucy’s help anymore.

I would like to say that I now feel like myself again but would not hesitate to contact Lucy if I started to feel down again.

I found the counselling really useful, and I found you (Lucy!) to be understanding and reassuring. The sessions themselves were a safe space to unpick and reflect, and having the sessions scheduled regularly kept me focused on what I wanted to bring to each session.

I came to these sessions a bit unsure what goal I wanted to achieve, and following a prior negative experience with a different counsellor. I’ve left the sessions feeling more certain in myself, and more confident in communicating my needs and setting boundaries. I have really appreciated our time together, so thank you.

You have been an island for me over the past year and a bit – a safe shore to stop swimming, take a breath, feel some solid land under my feet, be able to look around for some perspective of where I’ve come from, how far I’ve swam, and consider where I’m going. I have especially found your congruence and disclosures, sharing parts of yourself and your experiences, to be so helpful – both in normalising and modelling but also offering me opportunities to consider things from a different angle. Also, I love your use of metaphors and visual images – so many of them really stay with me and are such helpful touchpoints for a feeling or experience or learning much more accessible than words! 

I feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted with you, and that is truly a special thing. What a gift!
